Dreamcast Vs. PSX2. who will come out on top
Well the videogame world is about to head into the new generation of system wars. The sega Dreamcast was just released in japan 4 months ago but is already proving to give sony a run for their money. For those of you who live in a cardboard box, the Dreamcast is sega's next attempt at a home system and what an attempt it is. The Dreamcast is a very powerful machine utilizing the powerVR chipset to reder 5 million polygons per second running at a 640 by 480 resolution. I currently own both a Dreamcast and a Playstation. Of course when the Playstation 2 comes out I will of course add it to my collection. This will be an exciting week for the Dreamcast. No less than 4 key titles will be released for the Dreamcast in japan this week. Blue stinger (a Resident Evil style game), House of the dead 2 (a shooting game with light gun), sega monaco GP(monaco racing) and marvel super hero's are all being released between the 20 and the 25th of march. Also next month Resident evil:project veronica will be released for the Dreamcast. So as you can see when the Dreamcast is released over hear lots of games will be available allowing it to at least get it's foot in the door before the all mighty PSX2 comes out. At this point in time all i will say about the playstation 2 is from the demo video's that i have viewed is wow. If Sony can really do graphics like that in full real time polygons, the videogame world will be changed forever. The current specs for the PSX2 is around 25 million polygons per second with a programming technology called NURBS. NURBS was used in such films as toy story and its a bugs life so you can get an idea as to what the graphics will look like. More news on this as it develops.

Tokyo Game Show-update
This weekend from March 20-22 is the Tokyo Game Show in Chiba Japan. This is a venue for game designers to strut their stuff and show off their new games. The much talked about Shen Mue made a debut at the show and knocked some socks off. This Dreamcast RPG/Fighting game really shows of the power of sega's little gem. The game engine is very impressive redering a realtime interactive polygon world full of random weather patterns and tons of characters. To give you a sense of size one level of the game is the kowloon castle in Hong Kong. But get a load of this. The castle is made up of over 1200 rooms. Now you only need to go into 10% of the rooms to finish the level but that still makes for a lot of exploring. Shen Mue is to be released around june/july in Japan. Also shown at the show was NAMCO's first Dreamcast game which also stole the show. Soul Caliber is to be released this september in both Japan and the States. It showed up with flying colours with improved graphics from its arcade counterpart with more characters and even extra modes. More updates on the TGS as the info comes. or if you can't wait for me to update here check my links below.
